It’s time to change the way that art is taught!

The Artists in Residence Program connects instructors to students, provides resources for those instructors, and space for exhibition or performance. The goal of AIR is to ensure that all people have equitable access to professional, private instruction in the arts. Instructors are screened through a rigorous process to ensure the safety of students, and the quality of the curriculum. Students are screened in order to pair them with the appropriate instructor and to provide proper resources. From private banjo lessons to group oil painting seminars, the Artists In Residence program will ensure that the region’s artists have a place to grow and learn. The program does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.

Saving a National Landmark!

Revitalization efforts of The Coliseum Theatre and its surrounding properties are ongoing. Under the guidance of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History and The United States Department of The Interior, strategic planning for the preservation and further restoration of the building is underway. Thanks to almost a quarter million dollars in funding in the last year, the roof is being replaced above our stage and lobbies. Further renovations are scheduled for our restrooms, lighting and audio systems, lobby lighting, safety and first-aid equipment, dressing rooms , fly system upgrades, and other aspects of the facility. The staff are working to rebuild an archive related to the history of the building!Opportunities for naming rights and recognition are available! Please contact our General Manager for more information.
